We visited on a sunny day in early March. I'm 63, and have been coming to Zoo Atlanta since I was a kid, and man how it's changed. I've been to many zoos across the US, and I must say, especially after all the latest upgrades, Zoo Atlanta is the best (that I've seen). The habitats are huge, and there's a great variety of animals. Absolutely love it!
I have been here so many times since I was a kid, and was here recently with my son's school for a field trip. We had a lot of fun and my only real complaint was some animals weren't where the map said they would be. I know it was also chilly, so many weren't in their exhibits. The lion exhibit being closed for remodeling but not posted/announced anywhere was a big bummer for the kids. I do look forward to returning when it's warmer and the lions are back out. The reptiles and amphibians building was my favorite!
Always a great time. The exhibits and workers are incredible. The only reason for the 4 stars is the lunch food logistics. Under staffed. Took an hr to get 3 items. Not the workers fault... They were doing the best they could. But they needed way more staff. Would highly recommend eating ahead of time.
Wonderful Zoo and probably one of our favorites we have visited! Our family had a great visit. Friendly staff, clean, and plenty of photo opportunities. I'd say our 3-4 hour visit was great for our family of 3 small children 7 and under. While we, of course, miss the Giant Panda exhibit, honored to have seen them before their departure and wish them well in their homeland, Atlanta Zoo had a plethora of diverse animals we enjoyed seeing. Most were pretty active during our afternoon visit, which was a real treat! If you're debating where to take the family in the Atlanta area, I recommend placing the zoo at the top of your "must do" list!
visited Zoo Atlanta recently, and it was a nice experience overall. The zoo was clean, and there were many animals to see. But the weather was a bit cold and windy that day, so many animals like giraffes and rhinos were moved indoors instead of being in their outdoor habitats. It felt a little disappointing. It would be helpful if the zoo could add a sign at the entrance or mention it on their website when some animals are indoors due to weather. That way, visitors know what to expect. Still, it was a good place to visit. I just wish the weather had been better so the animals could be outside where they belong.
